Vifoods Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in the production and processing of frozen seafood. At the end of 2020, the company’s seafood processing factory encountered problems with the microbiology system and treatment efficiency throughout the wastewater treatment system. Only 2 weeks after applying the solution to restore the microbiology system and improve wastewater treatment efficiency consulted by Biogency, the treatment efficiency of the system was significantly improved.
Problems that Viet Food Company Limited is facing
Viet Food Company Limited is a unit specializing in manufacturing and supplying frozen seafood products. Currently, the wastewater system at Viet Food Company Limited is applying AAO treatment technology. The system’s design capacity is 150m3/day and night and the actual operating capacity is 250m3/day and night.

The wastewater source entering the treatment system is highly saline (about 4-5 ppt). At the same time, the process of cleaning and sanitizing the factory also causes the Chlorine content in the wastewater to be high, thereby causing significant effects on the treatment efficiency of the microbiological system. In addition, the aerobic tank also has a situation where the water turns black.
In general, the microbiological system in all three tanks including anaerobic tank, anoxic tank and aerobic tank are gradually weakening and leading to a decrease in efficiency of the entire system. Viet Food Company Limited has also used many types of microbiological products for the factory but the above situation has not shown any signs of improvement.

Microbe-Lift probiotic application solution in restoring microflora and improving wastewater treatment efficiency Viet Food Company Limited
Application solutions in wastewater treatment systems
When receiving the project, the engineering team conducted a survey and understood the current status of the system. Two factors that needed to be adjusted to restore the microbiological system in biological tanks such as anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic tanks and improve the treatment efficiency in the wastewater treatment system were:
- Adjust some operations when operating the wastewater treatment system.
- Add biological preparations containing microorganisms with good salt tolerance, specialized for treating seafood processing wastewater.
To achieve the above goal, 2 probiotic products were selected for use in wastewater treatment systems including:
- Microbe-Lift BIOGAS: Helps treat COD content in the anaerobic tank, reducing the load on the aerobic tank and anaerobic tank in the following stages.
- Microbe-Lift IND probiotics: Helps increase sludge activity in anoxic and aerobic tanks, while also helping to overcome shock loading in the system and reduce odors, increasing MLVSS content.
Dosage for the system is 12 gallons of Microbe-Lift BIOGAS and 12 gallons of Microbe-Lift IND.
The process of applying the solution and combining the use of Microbe-Lift probiotics
Viet Food Company Limited has applied the combination solution of 2 probiotic products Microbe-Lift BIOGAS and Microbe-Lift IND since December 23, 2020. And after 4 weeks, the microflora in the system has been restored and the performance has also improved. In particular, the ability to handle Ammonia and Total Nitrogen of the system are the 2 most concerned factors.

Results after applying the combined solution using Microbe-Lift probiotics
When applying the Microbe-Lift probiotic combination solution, the wastewater treatment system of Viet Food Company Limited has been significantly improved, specifically:
- After 2 weeks, the ammonia treatment performance has reached the standard.
- After 4 weeks, the total nitrogen treatment efficiency reached the standard.
